What’s included in the holiday

Casal de Santa Maria – all inclusive - Prices quoted are per person, per week, and include all transfers, accommodation, meals (breakfast, packed lunch and dinner – except on Wednesdays, our staff’s day off), guided walks and entrance tickets to all visited monuments.

Cottages: The quoted prices are per person, per week and include self-catering accommodation, guided walks and entrance tickets to all visited monuments.

Accommodation

Casal de Santa Maria: All bedrooms sleep two, whether double or twins. It is the responsibility of the guests to ensure safety and cleanliness of the rooms. Common areas are shared between all guests (lounge, dining room, garden, pool area). The kitchen is reserved for staff access only.

Cottages: Guests are responsible for keeping the cottages in good working order, namely the fully equipped kitchens where meals can be prepared, since they are not included in the price.

Transfers

Transfers to and from the airport are organised by us, walksintra. They are made in either taxis or minibuses, depending on the number of passengers, availability of the vehicles and flight arrival times. We reserve the right to do multi party transfers whenever flight times will allow it.

Walks

The week’s stay with us includes five guided walks in the Sintra area, regardless of the chosen accommodation type. The trails are chosen by the guide and can be altered at any time without previous notice due to poor weather conditions or the physical ability of the group.

Level of fitness and general health

Guests are responsible for their fitness level. Our guided walks cover distances between 10 and 20kms, so it is fundamental not to suffer from any conditions that will impair your physical condition. All participants must sign a term of responsibility, which states that they do not suffer from any conditions that might be triggered or worsened by the type of physical activity that they will be performing.

Securing your booking

We request a minimum 25% deposit to confirm bookings. You are welcome to pay more or even the full amount if this makes it easier for you to manage your holiday plan. The remaining balance of your rental cost (75%) is due 8 weeks before the start of your holiday.

Utility bills

Electricity, gas and water are included in the rental rate.

Cancellation

Up to 8 weeks – administration charge of €75
4-8 weeks – 50% of rate refunded minus the administration charge
2-4 weeks – 25% of rate refunded minus the administration charge
Less than 2 weeks – no refund

In the extremely unlikely event that we have to cancel your booking for reasons beyond our control, our liability is limited only to the return of all monies paid to us, although we will do our utmost to find alternative equivalent accommodation. No flights, car hire or any other costs or losses incurred as a result of your trip will be refundable by us, walksintra.

Arrival and departure times

Casal de Santa Maria: Due to different fligth times, arrivals will be occuring during the first day of the holiday. The official welcome and access to the rooms is given around 5pm. To ensure that villa is ready to welcome the next set of guests with the same quality and attention to detail, all guests must leave their rooms by 10am, when transfers will be organised to take them back to the airport.

Cottages: Unless you have prearranged alternative arrival and departure times with us, you are expected to arrive no earlier than 4pm on the designated arrival day. You are expected to leave by no later than 10am on the departure day.

Smoking

Smoking is strictly forbidden in any of the properties. Guests are allowed to smoke outside only.

Children

Parents or guardians must be responsible for checking all safety aspects of the accommodation relating to children. Due to the level of dificulty of the walks, we do not recommend them for children under 14.

Sub-letting

It is forbidden for guests to sub-let the property. The rental will be terminated with immediate effect, with no refunds or compensation, if this occurs.

Accepted payment methods

Payment is made by bank-to-bank transfers unless otherwise arranged. We accept payment in Euros only.

Rental rates

Rates advertised on our site are correct at the time of publishing. The walksintra.com website is the basis of the service we provide. Rates advertised on our website override any other rates seen on adverts. We reserve the right to update our rates or any other information without prior notice.

USEFUL TIPS

What you need to bring

• Wear comfortable and light waterproof walking gear, including walking shoes or boots.
• We recommend sleepers or flip flops for when you're in the house
• Please remember spares!
• Bring sun block and a hat, you’ll need it
• Bring a rucksack to carry your packed lunch with you
• Bring your camera!
